Deborah D. Maloy is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and a principal of Insight Financial Horizons. With more than 31 years of experience working with individuals and families, she is dedicated to the success of her clients and committed to helping them acquire confidence around money issues. She has the necessary life experience and professional credentials to help you establish goals, analyze your situation, create a financial plan, implement the plan, and monitor the results.

In 2010, Deborah served as chair for the Massachusetts Chapter of the Financial Planning Association™ of Massachusetts after her term as 2009 president of the chapter. Deb also served on the steering committee for the Massachusetts Financial Education Collaborative (MFEC), an organization that is working to improve the delivery of basic financial education in Massachusetts.

From 2007 - 2010, Deb gave back to her community by serving on the board of directors of the Malden YWCA, presenting and money mentoring at the Massachusetts State Treasurer's Money Conference for Women and serving on the planning committee for Mothers, Daughters, and Money, a financial education conference sponsored by the United Way of Massachusetts Bay.

Deborah received her BA in economics from Emmanuel College in Boston and her master's in library science from the University of Rhode Island. After 10 years as a librarian, working in public and academic libraries, she joined her father in his investment brokerage firm, F. W. Doyle & Co. When her father retired, she continued his legacy of putting clients' needs first through listening to their concerns and helping them with financial decision-making.

While earning an MBA in finance from Marywood College in Pennsylvania, Deborah devoted her master's thesis to the topic of comprehensive financial planning. She obtained the CFP® certification in 1994 and received a diploma in financial planning from Boston University in 1995. Continuing education is a requirement to maintain all the certifications that Deborah has attained, and she attends conferences, study group meetings, webinars, and portfolio manager events regularly.

Deborah wrote a chapter on women, gender, and the upcoming wealth transfer for a book entitled Mapping the New World of American Philanthropy: Causes and Consequences of the Transfer of Wealth, published by John Wiley & Sons in fall 2006. The experience of researching and writing about the topic raised awareness of the enormous potential that wealth spent wisely can transform the planet.
